Adam Cooper is a family lawyer and writer whose work explores love, relationships, family and the choices that shape our lives.

For more than twenty-five years, Adam has practised family law, now as principal of his own practice. His career has taken him into the intensely human territory of separation, parenting disputes and the difficult decisions families make when the lives they had imagined begin to change course.

Those experiences inform his fiction, not as stories borrowed from the courtroom, but as an understanding of the complicated space between love and law, certainty and doubt, judgment and forgiveness.

Adam is also the author of Before She Leaves: How Men Lose Connection – and How to Find It Again, a non-fiction exploration of intimacy, disconnection, masculinity and relationships.

In Where Rivers Bend, his first novel, Adam brings together his legal experience and longstanding interest in the emotional lives that exist behind legal disputes. Set against the rivers, cities and landscapes of Queensland and beyond, it is a story about first love, second chances and the consequences of the choices we make.

Adam is married to Julieanne, owns two Maltese Shih-Tzus and loves his AFL. He lives and writes in Brisbane.
